5 star rating Excellent Food and Service, Reasonable Price We were fortunate to have Fish Hopper recommended to us by friends. The food was so so good. I had Monchong which our server Tyler recommended, it was the best and the risotto was spot on. Other dishes we had were Ahi Tuna, Parmesan crusted Mahi Mahi, and Poke Nachos. Finally a Coffee and Chocolate Cheesecake, and Mac Nut Chocolate Pie, and Key Lime Mango Pie. Everything was fantastic. Someone gave this place a one star which is insane. Maybe don't order ribs at at a Fish House!! Anyway, I highly recommend this place. - 4 months ago

4 star rating Great breakfast with great view Enjoyed our Sunday morning breakfast. Veggie omelet was terrific. Corned beef hash heavy on meat, very few potatoes and onions. Can't beat the view of the bay, great for people watching. - 4 months ago

5 star rating Unexpected Gem This restaurant is right on Alii Drive, across from the ocean. Reservations are not always needed, but may be helpful. They have a nice drink menu. The wine list is not extensive but has decent reasonably priced options. The food is fantastic. We had poke nachos to start (a special), probably the best we have ever had. The monchong with risotto is amazing. The ono is also excellent. Service is good. TIP: Save room for dessert! Everything on the dessert cart was tempting. We had the mac night pie which was delicious. - 4 months ago

4 star rating “Old School” Gem in Kailua-Kona Fish Hopper has some good ratings. We have visited Kailua-Kona multiple times over the last 20 years and many times dont make it as far down Alii Drive for some food. This time we made it to Fish Hopper as a destination and we are glad we did. I say this place is “old school” because they aren’t flashy and upon entering you can tell this place has been around a long time. After being there I looked into it and they are a family restaurant with a tradition back to 1950. But they exceed all expectations with the quality of what counts, your food !!! We started out with some calamari which was great. Dinner choices were Alii Skewers, Fish Chips, Ahi & Shrimp, and Mahi. All were as good as anyplace, as was the friendly service, good drinks and desserts. We had a great time at a reasonable price. On our next trip we will make it a point to stop here again. Thanks to the Fish Hopper family/staff for a excellent dinner and night. - 4 months ago

4 star rating Amazing fresh fish - fast service. Our server Rio provided awesome recommendations which we devoured. We’ll be back. Fresh fish / great taste/amazing service. Wanted to rate it 5 but the app wouldn’t let me! We has the mahi and macadamia dish and the mochongo (spelling?) and risotto. Both were excellent. - 4 months ago

5 star rating Amazing Food! Great Service and even better food! I wanted to order a pineapple drink for dessert, but the portions were so large, I couldn't order one! Was going back the next day and again, the food was so good, that I didn't want one...again! If you are in the area, please come here, you will NOT be disappointed! - 4 months ago

5 star rating Excellent dinner, beautiful view of the ocean. We had an early family dinner here. The restaurant is open to the ocean breeze and such a beautiful view. The food was really delicious. Little daughter loved the linguine Isabella (shrimp, crab alfredo pasta sort of) it was yummy. Grilled sand dabs were teen daughters choice and she loved it. Teen son ate mahi BLT and said it was good but the sauce they put on was a little hot and spicy for him. Should have asked for it on the side. Same with my crispy Ono sandwich, it was really good but was a little spicy for an idaho tater eater. It was not excessively hot so a spicy eater would probably really like the sauce. I liked the flavor, it just took about five minutes for my lips and tongue to stop burning after the meal. The mango smoothie was delicious too. The waitresses were really prompt and the restaurant spaced customers and had careful covid standards. - 5 months ago

5 star rating A great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Fish Hopper is in Kailua town overlooking Kailua Bay and its breakfast offerings are full plate meals, good quality and the staff is friendly, helpful to visitors with advice and you're made to feel welcome as the manager stops by each table to check on customers. The bar is open and they offer "special" Bloody Mary's that are something to see and probably drink as well (too early for me).
Dinner menu is varied with a good selections of pupus, salads and entree's heavy on the seafood side, of course. Always daily specials. Particular favorites include the Monchong/Risotto dish and if red meat is your liking, the 10 oz filet is 10 oz, prepared to the ordered temperature is likely among the best on island especially at their price point.
And, if you have a sweet tooth post entree, the dessert tray makes picking one a real choice...among our favorite is the Key Lime/Mango cheesecake and all offerings are locally made and to die for! In case there is any doubt, we like Fish Hopper a lot, especially since so many other restaurants have changed-not for the better! - 5 months ago
